Eggless Stuffed Garlic Bread Recipe


For the Bread Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 11/4 cup warm milk (dairy or plant-based for vegan option)
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt (use dairy-free if vegan)

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (use plant-based butter for vegan)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

For the Cheese Stuffing:

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded (use vegan cheese for a vegan option)
  • Optional fillings: Sautéed mushrooms, olives, jalapeños, bell peppers


1. Prepare the Dough:

  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Add olive oil, warm milk, and yogurt. Mix until the dough begins to come together.
  • Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
  • First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Make Garlic Butter:

  • Mix Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, parsley, and oregano until well combined. Set aside.

3. Prepare the Bread for Stuffing:

  • Shape the Dough: After the first rise, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Apply Garlic Butter: Spread half of the garlic butter evenly over the rolled dough.
  • Add Cheese and Optional Fillings: Sprinkle the shredded cheese and any other fillings you like over one half of the buttered dough.

4. Form the Stuffed Bread:

  • Fold the Dough: Fold the dough over the cheese-covered half to enclose the fillings. Press the edges to seal.
  • Second Rise: Transfer the stuffed dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover loosely with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

5. Bake the Garlic Bread:

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Apply More Garlic Butter: Brush the top of the bread with the remaining garlic butter.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

6. Serve:

  • Cool Slightly: Let the garlic bread cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Serve Warm: Cut into strips and serve warm, ideally with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
