Sesame Cookies

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Eggless Sesame Cookies. These cookies are slightly crunchy on the outside with a delightful sesame flavor, perfect for pairing with tea or coffee.

Ingredients:

For the Cookies:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk (adjust as needed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds (white or black, or a mix of both)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Pans:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toast the Sesame Seeds:
    • In a dry skillet over medium heat, lightly toast the sesame seeds until golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add Milk and Vanilla:
    • Mix in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk, one tablespoon at a time.
  7. Shape the Cookies:
    • Take small portions of the dough and roll into balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
    • Roll each ball in the toasted sesame seeds until fully coated.
    • Place the coated balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
    • Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:

  • You can use either white or black sesame seeds, or a combination of both, depending on your preference and the visual effect you want.
  • These cookies are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
