Sugar-Free Apple Tart

Here’s a recipe for a delicious Sugar-Free Apple Tart, ideal for those who want to enjoy a sweet treat without added sugars:

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Filling:

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp granulated stevia (or any sugar substitute of your choice)

For the Glaze (optional):

  • 1/4 cup sugar-free apricot jam
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tart Crust:
    • Preheat your oven to 350Ā°F (175Ā°C).
    • In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, coconut flour, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
    • Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Prick the bottom with a fork.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are just beginning to brown. Remove from oven and let cool.
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, water, and stevia.
    • Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are just tender and the liquid has mostly evaporated, about 10-15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. Assemble the Tart:
    • Arrange the cooked apple slices in a circular pattern over the cooled crust. Overlap the slices slightly to ensure the entire crust is covered.
  4. Prepare the Glaze (optional):
    • In a small saucepan, combine the sugar-free apricot jam and water. Warm over low heat, stirring until the jam is melted and smooth.
    • Brush this glaze over the top of the apples to give the tart a shiny finish.
  5. Bake the Tart:
    • Return the tart to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the tart to cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, remove the tart from the pan.
    • Serve at room temperature or chilled, as preferred.
